Prize Concert : French Embassy & Institut Français in Denmark

The French Embassy in Denmark Kongens Nytorv 4, København K

FCA Prize Concert: “Danish Spirits” April 22, 2026 – Institut Français & French Embassy in Denmark French Connection Academy (FCA) is proud to present a new prize concert featuring FCA laureates Alva Wadströmer (Sweden) and Romain Jansen (France), hosted in the elegant salons of the French Embassy and Institut Français in Copenhagen. This special concert, titled “Danish Spirits,” brings to life musical and cultural ties between Denmark and its European neighbours through a carefully curated program. The repertoire was selected and researched in close collaboration with FCA leaders, and reflects the 2026 FCA summer academy’s overarching theme of Nordic identity, cross-cultural connection, and artistic memory. Alva and Romain, both former participants in the FCA 2026 Academy, have designed a program that bridges French romanticism and Danish symbolism, while tracing lesser-known musical footprints - such as those of Clara Schumann, who performed multiple concerts in Denmark and engaged with leading Danish poets and composers of the 19th century. Program:– Maurice Ravel: Sonata No. 1 in A minor, M.12– Rued Langgaard: Violin Sonata No. 3, BVN 312– Rued Langgaard: Short Violin Sonata, BVN 372– Clara Schumann: 3 Romances, Op. 22– Cécile Chaminade: Capriccio, Op. 18– Gabriel Fauré: Après un rêve Running time: 1h This event not only highlights the talents of two promising musicians, but also underscores FCA’s mission: to empower young artists to take responsibility for their artistic vision and to contextualize their repertoire with depth and cultural awareness. About French Connection AcademyFounded in Denmark and France, FCA fosters international collaboration among classical musicians through mentorships, masterclasses, and performance opportunities. The academy’s annual summer session in Odense brings together young talents and distinguished artists from across Europe. More information:🌐 www.frenchconnectionacademy.com
